Browse and open files and folders
- Tap Browse at the bottom of the screen, then tap an item in the Browse sidebar. If you don't see the Browse sidebar, tap Browse again.
- To open a file, location, or folder, tap it. Note: If you haven't installed the app that created a file, a preview of the file opens in Quick Look.
Recently Dropbox appears to have changed this login screen in a manner that makes it incompatible with iOS 9. Since this is the only version compatible with iPad 2 devices, you are no longer able to sign in to Dropbox on older iPads.
You can use the Files app to browse files stored on your device and in your Dropbox account all in one place. To do so, you must have the Dropbox iOS app installed on your device.
How to create a new folder in Dropbox for iOS
- Launch the Dropbox app from the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on the menu option in the upper navigation. It looks like three dots.
- Now tap on the option for Create Folder.
- Give your folder a name and then tap on Create.
How to download photos from Dropbox to your iPhone and iPad
- Launch the Dropbox app from the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad. If you haven't signed in, you'll need to right now.
- Tap on the photo you want to import to your camera roll.
- Tap and hold on the photo until the options bar appears.
- Tap Save to Camera Roll.
Or you might have zip files in your Dropbox/iCloud Drive folder. Tap on the zip file (or just select it) and then tap on the share icon. #2. Now, tap on Open In… from the options and select the appropriate app to open and extract the contents of the zip file.
Edit Microsoft Office files from the Dropbox mobile app
- Open the Dropbox mobile app.
- Navigate to the file.
- Tap to open the file.
- Tap the edit button (a pencil and paper icon). The file opens in the appropriate Microsoft Office app.
- Edit the file in the Microsoft Office app, then save the file in Dropbox.
Another change in today's update is that on the iPad, you can now close the file previewing pane to get a fullscreen browsing experience with your files – just hit the X in the upper left portion of the preview pane to get fullscreen navigation.

How to share files from your phone or tablet
- Open the Dropbox mobile app.
- Tap the “?” (vertical ellipsis on Android) “…” (ellipsis on iPhone/iPad) next to the file or folder you'd like to share.
- Tap Share.
- Tap Invite to file.

Manage content with Smart Sync
- Open the Dropbox folder on your computer's hard drive.
- Locate the content that you want to make online-only or local.
- Control-click or right-click the file or folder.
- Choose Smart sync.
- Choose Online-only or Local.
By default, the Dropbox folder is located in your user folder. If you moved your Dropbox folder, or if you connected a work and personal, it may be located elsewhere or have a name other than "Dropbox." You can programmatically find the folder path through a JSON file.
Upload files from an iOS phone or tablet
- Open the Dropbox app.
- Open the folder where you'd like to save your files.
- Tap "+" (plus).
- Tap Create or Upload File.
- Tap Upload File.
- Tap Browse and find the file you'd like to upload.
- Select the location where you'd like to save the file in your Dropbox account.
- Tap Upload.
A file preview allows you to view, comment on, and share files without downloading them. However, you can't edit a file from a preview. To preview a file on dropbox.com or the mobile app, click the name of the file. There you will see comments, activity, and other information about the file.

Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network or turning off cellular data. Camera uploads might be slower if your battery is low. Try plugging in your computer, phone, or tablet. Check how much storage space you have left in your Dropbox account.
Check what order your files are syncing in
- Click the Dropbox icon in your taskbar (Windows) or menu bar (Mac).
- Click the Sync history tab near the top.
- If files are syncing, they'll show in the order they'll sync next.
Why can't download files from Dropbox? Since downloading files through the direct download link needs to be done on the web page, browser cache accumulation and outdated bugs may cause Dropbox download failed. Also, the direct download link is disabled and the link expired may also be the reason.
