On OneNote for iPad or iPhone, you can open notebooks that have been shared with you. Tap More Notebooks. until you see the list of notebooks, and then on the bottom of the notebook list, tap More Notebooks. You might have to flick down to see More Notebooks.
Choose File > Share. Under Share with People, type the names or email addresses of people you'd like to share your notebook with. In the drop-down box on the right, choose whether each person can edit or just view your notebook. Add a personal note, if you'd like, and choose Share.
In OneNote for Windows 10, open the page you want to share. In the upper right corner of the app window, click or tap Share. Although you can't share a single page of notes in OneNote 2016, you can send OneNote notes in email. At the bottom of the Share task pane that opens, click or tap Send a copy.
Add students to a Class Notebook in OneNote
- Sign in to Office.com with the log-in provided by your school.
- Select Class Notebook, then Add or remove students in the Class Notebook Wizard.
- Select the notebook you're adding students to.
- Type in a student name, email address, or group name to add student(s) from your school.
Install Google Drive app for desktop and select target folder where your OneNote files are ( which is generally in C:userspublicdocuments ) and sync that folder. Your notes will automatically be synced with Google Drive.
Work anywhere from any device with Microsoft 365
- Click File > Info > View Sync Status.
- In the Shared Notebook Synchronization dialog box that opens, do either of the following: Click Sync All to sync all of your shared notebooks. Click Sync Now next to the specific notebook that you want to sync.
If you don't have Outlook 2010 or later, you can attach a OneNote note to an email messages. On the OneNote page that has the notes you want to send, choose File > Export. Under Export Current, choose whether you want to create a copy of the current page, the whole section, or the entire notebook.
The easiest way to open a notebook shared on a network location is to use the Windows explorer. Navigate to the network folder containing the notebooks (those are folders, containing . ONE files) and double click on the open notebookonetoc2 file. This should open it in OneNote 2013.
Navigate to OneNote.com and enter valid credentials for sign in. Click on the EDU Notebooks tab you want. Navigate to the notebook you want to save, right click on it, and click the Save a copy option. Click on Copy notebook.
To download a notebook from OneNote to your computer, do the following: In any modern Web browser, go to OneNote for the web. Under My Notebooks, right-click (PC) or Control-click (Mac) the name of the notebook that you want to export, and then click Export notebook. On the screen that opens, click Export.
To see the files that others have shared with you, go to File > Open > Shared with me.
Change the default storage location for backup files
- On Windows 10, the Backup folder for your notebooks is located at C:Usersuser nameAppDataLocalMicrosoftOneNoteversionBackup.
- On Windows Vista, the Backup folder for your notebooks is located at C:Usersuser nameAppDataMicrosoftOneNote12.0Backup.
- Right-click on the section tab and select Export…
- Change the export file type to be a Word document (*.docx)
- This will export all pages from the OneNote section and append them all into one Word document.
Open a notebook in OneNote for Windows 10
- On any page, click the Show Notebooks button .
- In the Notebooks list, click or tap the name of any currently open notebook that you want to switch to. If the notebook you want isn't already shown in this list, click or tap More Notebooks.

With Microsoft OneNote 2010, not only can you send static notebook pages via email, you can also share notebooks online or over networks to allow for multiple user access. Unlike other programs where editing is locked by one person, OneNote 2010 allows multiple people to access a notebook and edit it simultaneously.
Share a notebook on a SharePoint site
- In OneNote 2016, click File > New > SharePoint.
- On the right side, under SharePoint, click Browse.
- Go to the document library on the SharePoint site where you want to store your team notebook.
- Type a meaningful, descriptive name into the Notebook Name box and then click Create.
Microsoft Teams is a chat and online meetings solution that helps improve collaboration and simplifies file-sharing. You can also use it as a way to send short messages via the Chat function. Microsoft OneNote is a digital notebook that allows you to organize, tag and share items with colleagues.
To share OneNote notebook via link, you have to click File > Share. Then click Get a sharing link. This is where you will find a way to share OneNote notebook through a link.
To help communicate any additions and changes that people make to your shared notebooks, OneNote may automatically send you email notifications about recent notebook activity. If you find these notifications helpful, you don't have to do a thing.
In OneNote, click or tap on the page where you want your table to appear. Click or tap Insert > Table, and then drag the cursor over the grid until you highlight the number of columns and rows you want. When the table is inserted, the Table tab appears on the ribbon with controls you can use to customize the table.
