In the past, doctors used to describe pregnancies that happened in women over the age of 35 as “geriatric pregnancies.” Today, however, for obvious reasons, doctors don't use the term geriatric pregnancy anymore. Instead, when a woman is pregnant over the age of 35, doctors describe her as of “advanced maternal age.”
What's the childbearing age? Technically, women can get pregnant and bear children from puberty when they start getting their menstrual period to menopause when they stop getting it. The average woman's reproductive years are between ages 12 and 51.
Why is weight loss before pregnancy important? Achieving a healthy pre-pregnancy weight can improve your chances of getting pregnant and minimize your risk of pregnancy complications. Having a body mass index (BMI) of 30 and higher (obesity) can decrease your chances of having normal ovulation.
A normal BMI, a measure of weight for height, is between 18.5 and 24.9. An overweight woman - BMI 25 to 29.9 - should gain 15 to 25 pounds during pregnancy. For the first time, the guidelines set a standard for obese women - BMI of 30 or higher: 11 to 20 pounds.
More 30-something women are having babies than ever before. However, fertility declines with age, making it more difficult to get pregnant and increasing the risk of medical complications. There are also benefits to having a baby later in life, like being more financially and emotionally prepared.

When sperm are inside a woman's body, they can live for up to 5 days. If you're a man and you have sex even a few days before your partner ovulates, there's chance she may get pregnant.
Take Your Vitamins
Doctors used to tell women to take folic acid as soon as they got pregnant. Now, experts suggest starting a prenatal vitamin with 400 micrograms of folic acid before you try to have a baby.Ideally, you should take folic acid supplements for two to three months before you conceive and until you are 12 weeks pregnant. But try not to worry if you haven't started taking the supplements yet and start taking it now.
Fertility treatment
Some fertility drugs work by stimulating a woman's ovaries, which can sometimes cause them to release more than one egg. If sperm fertilizes both of these eggs, this can result in twins. In vitro fertilization (IVF) can also increase the chance of conceiving twins.Key nutrients to eat when you're trying to conceive

Barre, yoga and Pilates are ideal exercises if you're trying to get pregnant, since they build strength, balance, endurance and muscle tone — all things that will help your conception efforts. Yoga, in particular, is designed to help you relax, which is especially important when you're TTC.
But the intensity and duration of an exercise has been shown in research to impact on fertility. The most common exercises I ask women to stop or reduce tend to be the ones that over heat or over stress the body; running, Bikram yoga, spinning etc.
During pregnancy, squats are an excellent resistance exercise to maintain strength and range of motion in the hips, glutes, core, and pelvic floor muscles. If you have a healthy pregnancy, you can do them throughout. Always check with your doctor before performing any new exercise routine during pregnancy.
For instance, there is no evidence that either lying flat or elevating your legs for an extended period of time after intercourse will improve your chances of getting pregnant. If you are using lubricants during intercourse you need to make sure you are using one that doesn't impair sperm motility.
Can Exercise Cause Miscarriage? Exercising or picking up a (reasonably) heavy object—a grocery bag, a toddler, or the like—are extremely unlikely to cause a miscarriage. In fact, most experts agree that exercise during pregnancy, with your doctor's approval, can lower miscarriage risk and make mom and baby healthier.
Sasha Watkins. If you're eating a healthy, balanced diet, it's fine to lose weight while you're trying to conceive, as long as you don't become underweight. If you don't need to lose weight, but do want to improve your eating habits, it's never too soon to make changes to your diet.
Vigorous exercise can improve fertility in obese women, but it may slightly reduce fertility in women of a healthy weight. This doesn't mean you can't exercise! Only that you should try to limit strenuous activities—like jogging or aerobics—to less than four hours per week if you don't have weight to lose.
2. Avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS) like Advil. Since taking this type of medication has been linked to increased risk of miscarriage, it makes sense to avoid taking these at this time. Acetaminophen medication like Tylenol should be taken instead if you must take something.
Researchers say physical activity in general doesn't help fertility, but they believe walking may help obese women in particular to become pregnant. However, for women who have experienced one or more miscarriages, researchers in a new study say walking may actually help.

You're more likely to get pregnant if you have sex at least every other day between days 10 and 14 of a 28-day cycle.

It is here, in the fallopian tubes, that the sperm and egg meet. So, the bottom line is that you don't need to lie in bed with your legs up after intercourse to get pregnant and the fact that semen is leaking out afterwards, doesn't decrease your chances of conceiving.
