Dell XPS boss Frank Azor has revealed that the next iteration of the XPS 15 laptop will have its webcam located on the top bezel. Many XPS 15 9570 owners have complained about the location of the camera under the Dell logo on the bottom bezel of their laptops, which effectively turned the webcam into a “nosecamâ€.
How to Switch on the Webcam on a Dell Inspiron
- Click "Start | All Programs | Dell Webcam | Webcam Central," or click Start and type "webcam" into the search box.
- Click "Snap Photos" to turn on the webcam and start taking pictures.
- Click "Record Videos" to enable the camera and begin capturing video.
On the left side of the menu, scroll down to "Camera" and click on it. From here, you can click on sliders to enable or disable the use of your camera with other applications.
Because of the very thin screen border (also called a bezel), the webcam had been relegated to a spot below the screen, rather than above it. That led to an unflattering up-the-nose angle that made the XPS 13 less useful for Skype calls, YouTube videos or any other video-recording or streaming needs.
Many Dell laptops and flat panel monitors include an integrated webcam above the LCD screen. Unlike external webcams, which connect to your office computer through a USB slot, you cannot unplug a built-in camera. Hiding your Dell camera can give you some peace of mind.
The majority of computer monitors in the market do not have cameras. However, there are a few computer monitors in the market that do have cameras. If your Computer monitor does have a camera it would be placed on the top center of the monitor.
Go to Device Manager and look for Imaging Devices. If you have a webcam, it should be listed there. What if my laptop camera is not working?
To open up your webcam or camera, select the Start button, and then select Camera in the list of apps. If you want to use the camera within other apps, select the Start button, select Settings > Privacy > Camera, and then turn on Let apps use my camera.
A: To turn on a built-in camera in Windows 10, just type “camera†into the Windows search bar and find “Settings.†Alternatively, press the Windows button and “I†to open Windows Settings, then select “Privacy†and find “Camera†on the left sidebar.
Prerequisites
- Sign in to the Zoom client.
- Click your profile picture, then click Settings.
- Click the Video tab.
- You will see a preview video from the camera that is currently selected; you can choose a different camera if another one is available.
