The 16 Saddest Anime Ever
One of the most acclaimed animes of the sad subgenre, Clannad follows a motherless boy whose father drinks and gambles. A sequel to Clannad, After Story follows the struggles and heartbreaks of a young married couple.Yes, definitely. It has plenty of great emotional moments, very funny humour, has an excellent soundtrack and overall, it's really enjoyable. Once you've finished Clannad, then watch the sequel, Clannad: After Story. I can assure you, the 2nd half of After Story is incredible on an emotional level.
Mostly because it's one of the few anime to talk about married life and fatherhood, as well as a man's relationship to his father. It's also unusual because while Clannad is a typical harem series, After Story completes the harem.

~After Story~
Through a miracle, Fuko recovers from her coma in the After Story arc. Because she had spent seven years sleeping, her personality is the same as it was when she was fifteen years old. Fuko still wakes up and meets Ushio sleeping under the same tree where Nagisa's father begged for her life to be saved. You pronounce it "Clawn - id". Its the Irish word for Family or "To Come Together".
Yes. Technically, Fuko was only a spirit wondering the school while her body was in a coma.. I'm honestly not quite sure why some people could and could not see her.. ^^; But yes, she was technically a "ghost".
I've asked many people but I still have not come to a good understanding of the ending of CLANNAD: After Story. In the end of the anime, Nagisa and Ushio both come back to life. It's not terribly clear on how this happens and what causes it.
What is the last episode of Clannad After Story?
Clannad (Japanese: ????, Hepburn: Kuranado) is a 2007 Japanese anime fantasy-drama film directed by Osamu Dezaki and based on the visual novel of the same name developed by Key.
Well the reason Clannad stands out so much in the anime community is because of its uniqueness (at least that's what I think), and story. Clannad is beautiful with its character development, story, comedy, and feels. It beautifully portrays life and all of its truths, yet manages to add the anime into it.
What Are the Best Romance Anime TV Series?
- Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun (My Little Monster)
- Kimi ni Todoke (From Me to You)
- Special A.
- Clannad.
- Golden Time.
- Sakurasou no Pet no Kanojo (The Pet Girl of Sankurasou)
- Ao Haru Ride (Blue Spring Ride)
- Kaichō wa Meido-sama! (Maid Sama!)
It has two endings, although the I prefer the happy ending. But the happiness is short-lived, because Ushio gets sick and dies, leaving him all alone. Then there is the surreal aspect to the anime, where Tomoya wishes that he wants a happy ending, he had lost both Nagisa and Ushio.
Clannad is a tragic romantic comedy overall but holds a very important supernatural presence. On the surface, the description you'll find on most sites is very dull, missing a lot of detail saying things like: Clannad is an anime about Tomoya Okazaki promising to help Nagisa Furukawa restart the drama club.
But "Clannad" is actually a contraction of "Clann As Dobhar" ("the family from Dore") which the band eventually shortened to a single word--Clannad. So "clann" means" family, and "Clannad" means "crap, I should have researched that title just a little bit more, oh well."
What Are the Best Romantic Comedy Anime Series?
- Hachimitsu to Clover (Honey and Clover)
- Nodame Cantabile.
- Kimi ni Todoke (From Me to You)
- Kiss Him Not Me.
- Toradora!
- Bakuman.
- Kimi to Boku.
- Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo.
Even so, most Key visual novels have had H-scenes in them (the anime adaptations didn't carry these over). Clannad was the first (I think) without any H-scenes at all.
