Can I play Nintendo 3DS games on my Nintendo DS, Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL? No, this is not possible.
So, why doesn't Nintendo allow for us to play 3DS games on Nintendo Switch, either Lite or normal console? For physical Nintendo 3DS titles the answer is easy, as the cartridges are completely different sizes, but digital games aren't compatible either. The answer comes, sadly, in the second screen.
Nothing. You can not physically put a 3ds game into a DS system. 3ds games have a small tab of plastic that does not allow it to go into a DS system. The tab on the side of 3DS game cartridges prevents you from doing so.
You can't play your physical DS games on the switch. But you can play new versions you buy from the official store. The switch is considered a console, and not a handheld. Therefore it's not backwards compatible with any Gameboy systems.
Your Nintendo DS Lite includes integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing you to connect it to a compatible wireless network. Connecting your Nintendo DS Lite to a network allows you to play online multiplayer games and browse the Internet using your console if you purchase a Nintendo DS Browser cartridge.
Note. The system is able to use Download Play with the Nintendo DSi XL, Nintendo DSi, Nintendo DS Lite, and Nintendo DS systems. Wireless communication needs to be enabled to use Download Play.

Share All sharing options for: Nintendo has discontinued the 3DS. Nintendo has discontinued every model of the 3DS, according to its Japanese website. In total, Nintendo shipped more than 75 million 3DS consoles worldwide — fewer than half as many of its predecessor, the phenomenally popular DS.
The 3DS is a remarkable machine and has played host to some of the best games of the past decade. However, every console has its time in the sun, and despite Nintendo's protests, the 3DS really is dead now. Our 3DS business continues to do quite well. Retailers continue to support both the hardware and the software.
When it comes to rare and valuable games, Nintendo consoles have as many as any other systems – and the Nintendo DS is no exception. The rarest and most expensive Nintendo DS games have maintained their value over the years. And in many cases, a lot of DS titles have increased in price since their respective debuts.

On the Nintendo DSi Menu, use the stylus to select the DS Download Play icon. Select the title of the game you wish to download, then select Yes to begin downloading. The game downloaded from the host system will remain until the system is turned off.
The 3DS can play them, but people have been buzzing about extended load-times and diminished graphics for DS games on Nintendo's new system. The short answer is that these games run pretty well on the 3DS, with minimal problems, but there are some hitches… and some solutions.
1) The pins inside the 3DS game slot may be dirty. If this is the case then the first thing to try is to insert a game and then take it back out several times in a row (like 10). If that doesn't work then you can use rubbing alcohol and soak a q tip in it, then rub it on the pins of one of your games.

Is the Nintendo DS Lite still worth buying in 2019? Absolutely, even though the 2DS and 3DS play DS games, the game experience is still far superior on DS. The DS game graphics are scaled up to match the 3DS resolution but this scaling doesn't look great because DS games use bitmap images.
