Gamecube games only work on some versions of the Wii. Gamecube games only work on some versions of the Wii. The original RVL-001 model from 2006 accepts Gamecube games, and has memory card slots and ports for Gamecube controllers (you still need at least one Gamecube controller and probably one or more memory cards).
The Wii was originally released with GameCube support, but Nintendo removed this backwards compatibility feature late in the life of Wii. If your Wii is one of these older models then you would need a GameCube controller and probably a memory card to play GameCube games. They won't work with any sort of Wii controller.
All Wii control inputs released by Nintendo will be compatible, including the Wii Remote, Nunchuk, Classic Controller, and Wii Balance Board.
If you don't have a controller, you can use the keyboard and mouse, which is fine for GameCube games but isn't that great for Wii games. You can connect up to 4 Wii remotes to Dolphin.
No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle will allow players to use the Classic Controller, according to 1UP.
No it isn't compatible. Once the Wii is inserted with a GC game, it turns into a GC. That means you won't be able to use Wiimotes, anything that plugs into the Wiimote, Wifi, internal Wii's memory, USB devices, nothing. Just Gamecube controllers, Gamecube Memory Cards and the Gameboy Advance cable.
The Wii Classic controller is compatible with the Wii U, but not all games support it.
FYI. Wii Play's last game only has optional numchuck controls, they aren't required. You can steer with the Wii remote D button if you wish. Monkey Ball also only requires the wiimote, but some minigames do use the nunchuk on occasion…but they are usually not worth the trouble of attaching it.
Good news: it works with Nintendo Switch now. Even better news: it already does a lot more on Switch than it ever did on Wii U. Switch update 4.0 quietly added support for the adapter and the venerable controllers, and players have been testing them out in a variety of games ever since then.
The game does not support the use of Pro Controllers or two Joy-Cons paired using the Grip controller. The only way to play the game is by using a single Joy-Con.
To configure the classic controller ;
- click Wiimote on Dolphin's main menu, choose "Emulated Wiimote" from the dropdown menu by Wiimote 1, and click configure.
- This will bring up a screen similar to what we saw before for the GCPad.
- Click the configure button directly below it and set your controller up as before.
