Parking rates are not particularly expensive when compared to other major cities of North America -- prices vary from around $12 to over $20 for 24/h, with most lots charging for each 20 or 30 minutes up to the maximum, making on-street parking a cheaper alternative for short-term.

Metered Parking
Saturday 09:00-18:00. Sunday 13:00-18:00.Rates will rise by 25 cents an hour, starting on April 1, 2019, to account for inflation, according to the City of Montreal. With the change, downtown parking prices will range from $3 to $3.25 and $2.75 outside of the centre-ville core.
In general, when parking on the street, the following rules should be followed: Park in the direction of traffic. Do not park within five metres of a fire hydrant or road junction.

On-street, metered parking is available during the day on most downtown streets. You can park up to 3 hours and after that, you need to move your car. The meters accept cash, credit cards and pay-by-phone; hourly prices vary depending on location. Meters are FREE after 6 pm Monday-Saturday and all day Sunday.
Here's how it works: Drivers use cash or a credit card at a kiosk or "smart meter" located on each street to pay for the numbered spot where their vehicle is parked. They don't have to put a receipt on the dashboard, because paid parking spots are tracked electronically.
The penalty for double-parking or parking in a way that blocks traffic in Montreal will be $87, up from $53. The fine for stopping or parking in no-stopping zone remains $87, while doing so in a no-stopping zone that also happens to be a reserved traffic lane will stay at $149.
To pay tickets and/or fines issued by the City of Westmount or the City of Montreal, you can pay at Westmount City Hall (tickets or fines within 30 days of the infraction), 4333 Sherbrooke Street West during the regular office hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday to Friday) or at an Accès Montréal.
There are no restrictions in the evening, usually between 6.30pm and 8.30am. On Saturday some areas allow free parking. In other areas it's free after 1.30pm or 6.30pm. You can park for free all day Sunday.
