Don't OverwindIf it is a hand-winding watch, you can wind it even if it is still running. However, in every instance, stop winding as soon as you feel resistance in the crown. Don't try to eke a last turn out of it, since you could overwind the mainspring and cause damage.
You cannot overwind a modern Rolex watch when manually winding it. Today, Rolex designs its watches so that you cannot overwind them no matter how much you wind. The winder simply disengages once it reaches max wind.
A Seiko 5 watch is an automatic watch which its 7S26 / 7S36 movement is powered by the movement of your wrist. Therefore, if you have left the watch un-touch for a few hours, it will stop.
Once a Seiko 5 stops working, it's pretty much dead. Mind you, that'll take 20 years or so, unless you're very hard on you watch. I doubt you'll find a better quality automatic watch for the same price. There are better watches for a lot more money, but there are also a lot of worse watches for more money.
Automatic watches are charged by movement. These watches do not contain batteries. If an automatic watch is fully charged and then not moved, it will run out of charge and stop in 38 hours. When an automatic watch stops completely after running out of charge, it should be 'initiated' by winding it manually.
Wearing the watch to bed won't hurt the movement. I would be more concerned about banging the watch into a nightstand, headboard, etc., when in a sleepy haze. Anyone you are sharing the bed with might think it a bit odd, unless you were timing, er, some events.
Do not overwind or you will break the mechanism. When done, screw the winding head into position 1. The best way to wind an automatic watch is by wearing it on your hand. Unscrew the winding head and pull it out to position 3.

This includes some fine watches such are Seiko Prospex Sumo PADI SBDC049 Diver 200m Limited 1000 Pcs and Seiko Sumo SBDC027 Prospex Diver Automatic 50th Anniversary Limited Edition. Judging by all the facts, 4R35 is surely a great movement incorporated in some excellent timepieces and yet falling into affordable group.
Sorry if this sounds harsh, but the accuracy for the Seiko 4R36 movement is: +45/-35 sec/day. So losing 7 seconds in a day is well within the movements specifications.
After all, 7S26 is a legacy caliber and if you're a watch lover, you'd surely love to keep it alive and well as much as possible. But other than that, especially minding the price range of the watches 7S26 runs, the conclusion is that this is probably the best value movement you can get for the money.
I've regulated it myself a few times out of curiosity, and once when it drifted to about 12-14 seconds fast a day, when worn 24/7. Based on my limited experience, the 7S26 can be regulated to plus/minus five seconds a day, when watch worn 24/7. However, that level of accuracy may end after two-three months.
Seiko caliber 4R36 is another automatic caliber used by Seiko Watch Corp. Caliber 4R36 is an automatic movement with 24 jewels and beats at 21,600 beats per hour (6 times per second) which ensures over 40 hours of power reserve.
Wind the manual watch until you feel the crown tighten up. If you twist it hard and try to force it farther, you will break something but it won't be over woundjust broken. Wind an auto as much or little as you feel like. You can't over wind it because the mainspring has a slipping mechanism.
If it's a manual winding watch, stop as soon as you feel a resistance. If it's an automatic watch, the mechanism may make a different sound (a small clicking sound, most of the time) when the mainspring is fully wound.
If you wear an automatic watch more than twice a month, it will explode. ;-) Seriously, an automatic will not come to any harm if not worn. The main thing to remember is to have them serviced when required since lubricants break down over time (ie years) whether the watch is running or not.
Quartz movements inside watches are much more accurate; you may have noticed that the COSC certification standards for quartz movements are much stricter. This is because a quartz movement is much less prone to losing or gaining seconds as it operates.
You should not make adjustments – such as setting the date or day of the week – when the time on the watch reads between the hours of 9:00 pm and 3:00 am. Each movement has its own guidelines so this may vary a little, but avoiding setting anything a few hours either side of midnight should keep you out of trouble.
You will not destroy you Tudor with ETA if you try to overwind it, it's safe.
Don't worry you will NOT overwind the watch. Yes it's really tight when it's brand new. It will loosen up overtime. It helps to wind it with a cloth if you find the crown too hard to grip.
The two most common problems are the spring not being properly connected and the staff being broken. The staff is easily replaceable and the spring can be reattached to either the winder or the staff. However, do so with caution, as watches can be very delicate and easily broken.
A.The crown will turn in in both directions, but will only wind in one direction: clockwise (or forward). To fully wind a watch requires 15 to 25 full 360-degree turns (this will vary depending on the watch). Wind/Turn the crown clockwise until it stops abruptly and cannot be wound any further.
Wind It DailyThis first tip is especially important if your mechanical watch is of the manual wind variety. Even if you don't wear your watch every day, it is a good idea to wind it daily. This can cause unwanted friction which will not only affect the watch's performance but may also lead to damage.
You CANNOT overwind a watch. You can only wind it up to the top and then let it run. If you wind it up to the TOP and it DOES NOT RUN, then it needs servicing because it's dirty and needs relubrication & cleaning. If your watch is stopping after you wind it up, it means it needs the attentions of a watchmaker.
And then as well, it's much better to have an undamaged watch which just needs relubricating at a service, than a watch with a lot of wear and tear in the movement because it ran all the time and became badly lubricated in the end. Just let your watches stop when you don't wear them.
