Hanging or installing a door isn't as difficult as it may seem. Replacing an existing door is easy if the new door core is the same size. Installing a door in a new partition wall is also very easy if you buy a prehung door so you don't have to build the door frame yourself.
When hunting for wall studs, usually the goal is vertical studs. But there are also horizontal framing members located above and below door and window openings. Above windows and doors are doubled-up studs called headers. Both the header and sill plate can be used for attaching items to the wall.
Position the door and the jamb in the rough opening, and use one or two 8-penny nails to temporarily tack the hinge jamb into place. Use the level and necessary shims to get the hinge jamb as plumb as possible.
Per the Society of Automotive Engineers ("SAE") Document J839B: Passenger Car Side Door Latch System - Every vehicle door latch must be able to withstand a vertical force of 2500 pounds and a horizontal force of 2000 pounds without failure.
These home exercise “as seen on TV†devices are potentially dangerous. Their key selling point – that they can instantly turn any doorway into a home gym – is also a potential flaw. Under certain circumstances these pull-up bars can dislodge from the door frame, sending you crashing to the floor.
If your pull up bar is installed properly, your weight will be distributed evenly on the sides of the bar and will not break your door frame. The only time a pull up bar will break your frame is if the frame is not in good shape or you are heavier than the frame itself.
Typical hollow core doors have thin sides that will not support screws, bolts or any type of hanger. By inserting an expanding bolt into the door, you can install a clothes hanger on the door using the bolt as an anchor.
Hollow door and drywall anchors (25-Pack) are ideal for use in hollow core doors and drywall. They offer a holding strength of up to 40 lb. No pre-drilling is necessary in drywall - anchors screw directly into wall and will not break if they hit a stud. Use only a #2 Phillips screwdriver.
Resolution: Butt hinges can be used on doors up to 4' wide and 200 pounds.
Determine the correct placement of the door hinges. The top hinge is typically located seven inches below the top of the door frame, and the second hinge is situated 11 inches from the door frame bottom. When a third hinge is needed to support a heavy door, it's located directly in the middle of the first two.

| Gate Capacity | Up to 75 lbs. or 72†wide |

Depending on the door's height in question and its width, the standard need remains two to three inches for most interior doors. However, exterior doors or the larger ones with heavyweight will surely need four or more hinges.
4 Answers. It's definitely not a problem. As @ChrisF mentioned, the best way is to drill a small pilot hole (1/8" would probably be about right) and use a self-tapping screw. "Self tapping screws" suggest that you don't need a pilot hole, but they're really meant for sheet metal.
If you're drilling PVC, it's best to use a metal drill. This principle applies to all types of plastic. Use a standard roll-rolled or HSS ground metal drill bit. The top angle must be between 60 and 90 degrees.
No Nail, No Fail Options
- Command Strips. This is probably the most commonly used method of hanging up frames, canvases, and any other decor without leaving a trace on the wall.
- Command Hooks.
- Hang Art From Your Molding.
- Use Your Mantle.
- Take Up Space on Bookshelves.
- Embrace the Wall Lean.
- Put the Art on an Easel.
- Clip it Up.
1. An easier method is to hang the art as you normally would, from two picture hooks on the “D†rings of the frame. Then, use double- sided tape on the back of the frame along the bottom to prevent the frame from bouncing around every time the door is opened and closed.
You can replace any exterior door in your home without removing the jamb if the jamb is in good shape and not out of square. You just need the same size of door without the hinge cutouts. You don't need special tools, you can cut the hinge mortise with a chisel and a hammer.
