Full time teachers are paid over twelve months. Our “summer months” are about six weeks, unless you are at an independent school. It's reckoned that it's a 9 month salary paid over twelve, not that teachers are paid for doing nothing.
Qualified teacher salaryThese ranges, from the main rate to the highest upper rate, differ between countries across the UK: England (excluding London) and Wales - £25,714 to £41,604. London - £26,948 to £42,780 (fringes), £29,915 to £45,766 (outer), £32,157 to £50,935 (inner) Scotland - £27,438 to £36,480.
Legal EntitlementFirstly, all employees in the UK are entitled to the equivalent of 5.6 weeks of paid leave. So somewhere in teachers' paid holidays must be those 5.6 weeks (or their pro rata equivalent if your argument is that we're not paid for 52 weeks).

In a 2019 Teaching and Learning International Study, over 90% of those surveyed said they were satisfied with their jobs. Helping a student to understand something they previously could not, or seeing them improve in an area where they were struggling can be extremely rewarding.
If a teacher has Proficient, Highly Accomplished or Lead Accreditation, they will be paid within Band 2 at the appropriate increment based on salary matching (refer to 4.4) or relevant teaching experience (refer to 4.3), whichever is greater.
To calculate the percentage increase, first calculate 2.5% of the salary. Multiply the salary (23,500) by the percentage (2.5) then divide it by 100. This gives the 2.5% amount which is 587.5.
In addition teaching allowances will be increased by 2.25% backdated to September 2017 with a further 2% increase backdated to September 2018. The Union will now seek to deliver a pay settlement for 2019-20 and 2020-21 which adequately rewards teachers for the work that they do.”
This salary schedule is in place to keep teachers from asking for raises. However, it doesn't mean that it is right and should be unquestioned. If you know you are more valuable to the school than other educators that are earning more, then you can always go out and see if you can get what you're worth.
Academies pay classroom teachers less - but heads moreAcademies are paying school heads more than in maintained schools, but classroom teachers less. That finding comes from Department for Education workforce data, based on average figures.

Definition of unqualified teachers''Unqualified teacher” means a teacher who is not a qualified teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Newly hired instructional employees are placed on the Pay-for-Performance (PFP) Salary Schedule. Newly hired teachers on a 196 calendar with 0-16 years of experience will have a starting salary of $47,500. ?This is an increase from the 2019-2020 Salary Schedule range of $41,233 to $47,395.
