There is custom devices around that still use IDE, like manufacturing plants with big devices. I had a client looking for 250GB IDE Hard Drives (WD Blue) and normally several months ago I was able to buy these without a problem. Today, they have vanished completely!
Well, one part of this is easy: IDE and PATA are two names for the same thing. The rest – well, the easy part is that SATA and PATA are two different ways of connecting a hard drive to your computer.
